Seriously, Everything* is Behavioral Health

*Okay, not literally everything. Probably not like, your toaster, but the choices (even the ones about toast), habits, relationships, environments, and systems that shape how we live every day? That’s behavioral health.

Seriously, Everything* is Behavioral Health

Think about your day.

You hit snooze because you stayed up too late last night.

You missed your morning coffee because you had to get the kids to school.

You snapped in the school drop-off line because you hadn’t finished the coffee.

You apologized because you know your four-year-old is definitely going to repeat that four-letter word at preschool today.

Behavioral health.

Maybe you packed a lunch to save money, or bought lunch because you did not have the emotional bandwidth to pack one.

Maybe you spent twelve dollars on a salad and then wondered why you didn’t just get the burger.

Also behavioral health.

We tend to hear the words behavioral health and assume something is wrong.

Someone needs therapy.

Has a diagnosis.

Is in crisis.

Yes, behavioral health can include all of those things.

But it also includes the incredibly ordinary business of being human.

It’s how we cope with stress. How we sleep. What we eat. Whether we move our bodies. How we respond when our teenager rolls her eyes at us. How we handle the guilt trip from our mother. Why we avoid making that phone call for three weeks even though the actual phone call will probably take four minutes.

Don’t call me.

Text. It’s 2026. I’m not answering.

And seriously, do not leave me a voicemail.

Anyways...

Our habits, relationships, environments, beliefs, choices, emotions, and all the systems we’re trying to navigate just to exist on this planet are behavioral health.

That doesn’t mean something is wrong with you.

It means your behavior doesn’t happen in a vacuum.

Once you start noticing that, behavioral health gets a lot bigger than therapy.

No matter who you are or what you do, our behaviors have the ability to make the world a healthier, happier place.

If that sounds like something you want to be part of, join the movement.

Either way is fine.

And, yes, either way is behavioral health.
